Santa came early this year! My Seestar S30 arrived on December 22nd, 2024 and it just so happened that it was clear that evening. I had to try out my new toy!
Some initial observations on the S30:
- The shorter focal length resulted in less rejected frames, even at 20s.
- The wider field of view allows to take images of objects that are larger without having to use mosaic mode (like with the S50)
- It appears to be more sensitive than the S50.
- I was able to image (without the dew-heater) all night.
I am impressed with this new S30 and will be in regular use in the future.
